Dear Mom and Dad,
How are you? I hope that everything is going well. I can't believe Brian is almost home. It's crazy. Do you know when they will be back in the states?
Things here are going great. Elder Arrieus and I had a pretty good week. Our teaching pool is starting to get a little bit bigger. We are still teaching Sylla and Carmel. We changed their date to the 7th of November mostly to give Sylla a little more time to quit smoking. We also spent about 30 dollars on grapefruit juice and everything with cinnamon in it to help him overcome the addiction. We even wrote scriptures in French on pieces of paper to hang up around his house. Hopefully all that will help him out.
We are also teaching two 17 year old sisters named Jevenis and Taff. Jevenis has a date for the 14th of November. We are also teaching a more middle aged woman named Ginette. She is pretty cool. She has been a Seventh Day Adventist for about 30 years but she understood what we taught her and she came to church yesterday. We are going to try and see her again tonight. It is kind of hard with her because she doesn't have a phone or a car and she lives about 5 miles away. But I'm excited to teach her. She is also an artist. I'm hoping to get some sweet Haitian paintings from her. I'm not sure how many souvenirs I want to get on my mission. I will probably just wait until I can go to Haiti to buy much of anything.
But that is pretty much our teaching pool at the moment. We are working with a few new converts and less active members. We are still teaching Kirk, Wallace, and Jheasong. The Branch mission leader is supposed to teach the new member lessons but our old one didn't do very much and our new one doesn't speak very much English. But I like teaching all of them so it's no big deal. Church was pretty good yesterday. We had the combined primary program with the Spanish ward. The chapel was packed! It was a really cool sight. We almost had to open up the gym too. There were a lot of members who hadn't been there in a long time. Everything is going well! The work is going forth boldly, nobly, and independent!
Last weeks p-day was pretty fun. We just played football in a nearby park. Today we are going to the zone leaders apartment where they have a volleyball court, and game room (pool table). We are also going to play some "Settlers of Catan." That game is awesome. But, that's pretty much the scoop on what's going on here. I hope that everything is going well for you!
Love,
Elder Larson
