Dear Mom and Dad,
Things here are going great. We held Johnley's baptism on Saturday night. It went quite smoothly. It was a nice change from the hectic Haitian baptisms that I'm used to. It even almost started on time! Elder Whitaker performed the baptism, I was glad that he was able to have that experience. Johnley's mom was also able to attend. She has come to church three times now, including general conference. She has also been reading in the Book of Mormon. We gave her a copy in English when we first started teaching Johnley but she hadn't read it at all. So, on Wednesday we gave her a Kreyol copy. When we saw her again on Friday she was up to chapter 10 in first Nephi. She seems to really like it as well. We haven't taught her very much yet, but she is looking pretty positive. Hopefully the dad will come on eventually as well.
This week we started teaching another friend of a member. The member lives here in Naples but goes to church in Immokalee usually. She's the same member that referred us to Mickenchina. This week she brought her other friend, Miked (pronounced me-ked), to Wednesday night activities. We taught her right before she went with the young women. We also taught her on Thursday. Then Saturday she went to a stake young women's activity, and Sunday she came to church. So, she's had quite the introduction to the church. But she is pretty positive. We've focused a lot on the Holy Ghost with her. She told us she never feels anything when she goes to churches. But yesterday she said she felt good. So we're going to work with that.
The family that just had the two kids, Ruby and Jozelle, baptized just got one bigger. Renan (the dad) has another son who just moved here from Haiti. His name is Rodney. He is 19. He's a pretty cool kid. He was really surprised that we spoke Kreyol. He doesn't speak any English yet so I think it was nice for him to have a few more people to talk to. We're hoping to start teaching him this week. Who knows maybe he'll decide to go on a mission. That would be great for that family. Especially his two younger brothers who could use a good example. So we have three pretty positive investigators who we're hoping will be baptized in May or even sooner.
I will call office about flying into Grand Junction. Elder Welch and Elder Harris will be sad but they'll just have to deal with it. I guess I will see most of my siblings a week or so after anyways. So, no worries. I'll let you know when I find out more.
Thanks again for everything that you do. I love you. Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Larson
