Dear Family,
Sounds like everything is going great in the desert! It's nice to get your perspective on the hurricanes. We always get some interesting weather reports from the members which are not too reliable. So, we don't really know if anything is going on until we get a call to evacuate or to lock down. From what I've heard about Ike is seems pretty big, but we have no idea where it is or where it's going. As long as it doesn't do too much damage to Haiti everything will be good. Hannah pretty much destroyed Jacmel and Gonaives from what we've heard.We found out about Gonaives in a pretty interesting way. Three of our investigators are all brothers: Pharnod, Jimmy and MerciDieu. Pharnod is the one who has had a date for a while but has had to have it changed a couple times. He was scheduled to be baptized this Saturday, but that probably won't happen because his Dad is still in Haiti picking up his Mom. They just happened to be in Gonaives, which is one of the poorest cities in Haiti and naturally the one that got the most damage. Both of their parents were alright last we heard but they had to spend a day or two on the roof waiting for the water to lower. We're hoping they get back soon so that the baptism can go through and so that we can meet their mom.
That's pretty neat that you (mom) were able to attend the Montezuma Creek Ward. I didn't even know that they had a ward down there. I'm glad the football team is doing so well and that is surprising that North Sevier beat Moab! I thought N.S. was going down to 1A in football? Friday night we were walking out of the church at about 9:00 on our way home and I heard the announcer from the near by high school and I got pretty excited. It made me wonder what was happening at the field in Blanding at that time.
I don't really have a favorite missionary scripture, but one that I really like is 3em Nefi 5:13: Gade, m se yon disip Jezikri, pitit gason Bondye, Li te chwazi m pou m deklare pawol pami pep li a, pou yo kapab gen lavi pou tout tan.
They had the white handbook way back then? (question to Dad) Did they have it in Tagalog(one of the languages of the Philippines) too? I've never asked you too much about Tagalog before, it's something that really interests me.I don't have too much time to write, I want to save some to try and send some pictures. Thanks for your e-mails, I really enjoy getting them. I hope to hear from you again soon!
