E-mail of July 18, 2008

Mom,
Thanks for the e-mail. Sounds like life is great in Blanding! Life is great up here too. The language is coming great. We should get our flight plans pretty soon! I'll make sure to let you know what is happening. In other news, I was asked to be district leader for the last two weeks. Our last district leader and his companion became the zone leaders and so I got the pick out of my companion and I. I think he got the short end of the deal being the only one in our district without a calling. He's a good sport about the whole thing. Elder Garner from my USU ward (the one going to Tampa) came in yesterday and he is going to be in my branch. He'll fly out the week after me. I did hear about the Russian missionaries. I felt pretty bad for them. Did I ever tell you about one of my teachers? He was called to Haiti and then the last week in the MTC they shut it down and he was sent to Ft. Lauderdale. We were kinda hoping they would open Haiti back up sometime in the next two years and send some of us down there. But the Mission President down there doesn't think it will be stable enough anytime soon. Have you heard anything about Elder Haws' situation? Well, I don't think I have much else to say. Oh, could you ask Scott if he was here on Jan 18, 2000 and if he was if he remembers Elder Holland's talk? Just curious. I think thats all the news I have. Love you and talk to you soon!
