First Letter from MTC

May 28, 2008
Dear Mom and Dad,
Wow! What a day, huh? this has been an incredible day for me, as I'm sure it has been for you. I just wanted to write you and let you know what's happened to me. I am in a district with 3 other Elders. they all seem to be great Elders. We all share a room and are all going to be learning Haitian. My companion's name is Michael David King. Oh, sorry, I mean Elder King. That't going to take some getting used to. He is going to the Orlando Mission but the other companionship in my district are headed to Tampa as well so we'll probably run into each other. We've had a great evening of orientation. I've gotten to know my companion a little. He is from American Fork and is a swimmer. He looks exactly like Danny Royer, and kinda sounds like him too. I saw Elder Haws, Elder Swenson, and Elder Hosler (Blanding guys) at dinner. My companion and I ate with Elder Haws and Swenson and their companions. Elder Swenson is in my district and lives pretty much across the hall from me, but he will only be here until Monday or Tuesday so we'll have to take our world map picture on Sunday. I've had a lot of great experiences already. I'm actually starting to feel like a missionary. you remember that my name tag was in French? Well most of my materials are also in French. I guess the two languages are closer than I thought. I'm way excited to start learning Haitian. that's one of the things I'm looking forward to most. Well, it's getting late and I still need to write in my journal so I'll let you go. But I just want to tell you thank you for everything that you have done to get me to this point in my life. I'm so grateful to have grown up in a gospel centered home. I'm so excited for the next two years and all that it'll hold in store. I hope all is well at home. Encourage everyone to write to me, and know that I love you. Your favorite missionary, Elder Larson
