Dear Mom and Dad,
It sounds like you had a great week. I'm sure you are having lots of fun up at camp. I am excited to go up on the mountain in the next couple weeks. I hope I can still find some snow. This past week was really good. The highlight for me was definitely the trip to the temple. It was so great to finally be able to go back to the house of the Lord. I'm excited to return again and again. We were able to ride up with the Tufts. They are the senior couple that is serving in Naples. They are a really nice couple. We had a nice drive through parts of Florida that I never even knew existed. All in all, it was a really great experience.
Also, the work is going ok. We have pretty much dropped Reginald. He didn't come to church again yesterday. Michael is doing good. We're having some trouble getting him to church because he usually spends his weekends at his adoptive mothers house and it's hard for him to get to church sometimes. So his baptism is up in the air. On Friday we got a little surprise. We got a call from President Lowman while we were doing studies and he asked for Elder Welch to come and play the piano for a wedding. We didn't know who the wedding could possibly be for, but when we got to the church Sylla and Carmel (some old investigators and parents of a couple members) were waiting there. I was shocked because I didn't even know they weren't married. But apparently that was one of the things that was holding them back. So hopefully that will help them to be able to progress again. Also, their son Wallace is really excited about serving a mission. Hopefully by November he'll be ready. I would love to see him when he goes to the MTC.
That is pretty much the highlights of the past week. To answer your questions, I did get my passport so I shouldn't have any problems getting on the plane. But I realized when I got the card that it is only for land and sea travel so I probably won't be able to use it if I want to go to Haiti. Which my trip this summer is looking less and less likely. The people I was hoping to go with are kind of backing out. But it's all good, I'll have plenty of time to go later. Also, I am planning on e-mailing next Monday as usual. We may only use 15 or so minutes but I think we will do it. I just want to tell you I love you and appreciate all that you do for me.
Love ya!

Dear Mom and Dad,
How are you? How is your week going? It was good to hear from you. It sounds like things are going really well. Things here are going really well also. I'm looking forward to some great things this upcoming week. This past week we had some good things happen, and some things that were not so good. Our main investigator, Reginald, called us on Friday and expressed some concerns that he had. He said that it mostly revolved around the fact that he had been baptized before. But he said that he was done investigating the church. But, we told him to come to English class that night and we would talk to him. He came, and seemed his normal self. We even set up a return appointment with him for Saturday. At that lesson we talked about the Holy Ghost and looking for a spiritual answer and also reviewed the Apostasy and restoration, focusing on Priesthood authority. He understood it all, like he has since day one, but he still isn't really sure what to do. But, we did set up another appointment with him. So he still likes us and is interested. But, we feel like he is just hiding his real concern. So we're going to work at finding out what that is and how to help him overcome it. Hopefully that will be a fruitful plan.
On the brighter side, Michael is looking really good. He came to church with his Grandma again yesterday. He fits in very well with the young men's program. We just need to talk to his "mom" to make sure that he is going to be able to come to church every week. We're hoping to have his baptism on the 20th. Also, yesterday we had an inactive family come to church. We have been working with them my whole mission with out much success. But this summer their inactive 19 year old daughter, Silienne, is home from school and we've been able to use her to get her little sister and brothers to church. The mom is still stubborn. But progress is progress. We're hoping to the younger daughter more involved in young women's and the older daughter involved in Institute. Also we've kind of forced Silienne to work with the Spanish sisters. It will be really good for her. Also, two of the youth that I've worked with quite a bit are getting ready to graduate next year. One is Wallace, who was baptized last summer. He's started filling out his papers to go on a mission. He would be the first missionary from this branch. He says he wants to go to Japan, which I thought was funny since he's about 6'6". The other one who is graduating is going to a school in Wisconsin to wrestle and play football. He says he wants to go on a mission after a year. So we're hoping to encourage that.
Tomorrow I will be able to go to Orlando and finally go to the Temple. I'm really excited. There will be the three of us who are going home in two weeks, along with three other missionaries who are going home Wednesday, the senior couple who is taking us up, the temple president, and President and Sister Colton. It should be really good. I hope that everything is going great for you. Have a great week and drive safe. I look forward to hearing from you next week!

Dear Mom and Dad,
I hope you had a wonderful holiday! It sounds like you are up to some exciting things. Things here are going pretty well. We are trying to work hard and help our investigators. We had three investigators with a date at points during the week, but, one of them didn't come to church so he lost his date. But, we are hoping to see him today so we'll see how that goes. The two that still have their dates are Michael for the 13th and Reginald for the 18th. They both have some concerns, but hopefully they will both go through. That is pretty much all of the investigators we have right now. It's been hard for us to find very many Haitians. Most of the positive people that we find are referred to either the Spanish or the English missionaries. But the work goes on. I just thought of something that I don't think I ever shared with you. But we found out that all of the Haitian branches in the Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando missions as well as the one in Boston were all shut down. That means that I've served in the only two active Haitian branches in the U.S. and possibly outside of Haiti. I haven't heard why they shut down but I plan on asking my MTC companion who served in Orlando. But, things here are going well. We have some good things planned for this week. I hope that everything is going well for you. I love you and am very grateful for everything that you have done for me. Have a great week and I look forward to hearing from you in a week!

Dear Mom and Dad,
It was great to hear from you. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I had a pretty good day. I can't believe I am 21 either!
This past week went fairly well. We had some troubles seeing a couple of our investigators. But we set a baptismal date with Reginald and met a few new people. Reginald was a little reluctant to set a date anytime soon. But we told him to think about it and pray about it and he chose the 18th of June. We're pretty excited for him. We also had an old investigator show up to church out of the blue. Her name is Pasyamise. We taught her during 2nd hour and focused a lot on baptism. She said that she wants to be baptized but she doesn't want to do it any time soon. So we are going to wait and see if she how interested she really is. So things are going forward. Our whole zone is doing pretty good right now. All but two areas have at least one investigator with a baptismal date, and the sisters have 6.
This week we started doing splits with a recently returned missionary that lives pretty close to the church. He served Spanish speaking in Tempe, but he want to be a translator so we've been helping him learn some Creole. He doesn't have a job or anything yet so he has helped us a lot. We also realized that we were in the MTC at the same time. It's weird. Also, yesterday I met a former Haitian missionary from this mission. He visited our branch and we talked to him for a while. He is originally from Monticello. He is Dallin* Boyd's older brother. I had heard that there had been a missionary from Monticello that served here but it wasn't until we asked him where he was from and he responded with "well, have you ever heard of Moab..." and I thought "hey, that's what I always tell people" that I realized who he was.
So things here are going well. I hope that everything is going well for you. Have a great week, and I look forward to hearing from you in a week.
